As a rapidly expanding, dynamic and proactive animal rescue organisation, it is crucial that we improve our on-site WIFI. Ocean Acres is set on an expanse of 4 acres of land, sheltering over 100 dogs and 80 cats. The current WIFI range only covers the far residential end of the property. All operational areas are located at the opposite end of the sanctuary where we have zero WIFI signal: the kennels, cattery, staff working areas, visitor and community areas. Senior Team Members and administers need the internet to work on-site online. It is not practical being positioned in the residential zone and away from the hub of activity. Continual staff communication is also of key importance to the safe, efficient running of operations (on and off-site). With the current WIFI limitations, we are challenged.
Expansion and Development
Ocean Acres Animal Sanctuary is a new 2020 non-profit animal rescue organisation. We have major plans for renovations and expansion. For practicality and functionality, all future developments must be nearer the main road and entrance. This includes more kennels, more exercise paddocks, extending the cattery, a cat café, areas for functions and events, a reception, office blocks and staff/volunteer facilities.
CCTV System
To safeguard the property, our staff, visitors, the animals in our care and to monitor and improve all sanctuary productivity, we need a CCTV system with remote viewing access. This isn’t possible with limited WIFI.
Shoshin Technologies
For some considerable time we’ve researched ways to upgrade the WIFI and find a solution to CCTV; sourcing numerous quotes from local resources, all of which far exceed our fundraising goals. However, we are now very fortunate that an overseas IT specialist (John Wasniewski, the MD of Shoshin Technologies) is generously offering a consultancy service, pro-bono, and will travel to Barbados to setup and install the system. On a recent vacation John fostered a dog for Ocean Acres and while doing this he gained an appreciation of the work we do – day in day out. John has kindly setup a GoFundMe to purchase and import the equipment we need. Thanks to Shoshin Technologies, this is a huge saving of 50%, compared to our most competitive alternative.
